As assistant director of athletic communications, Bloomquist provides coverage of Angelo State's 13 men's and women's sports, including social media, web coverage, video features and statistical reporting through AngeloSports.com.

Bloomquist is the primary contact for baseball, volleyball, soccer, men's basketball and golf along with serving as the secondary contact for football.
is a two-time CoSIDA Fred Stabley Sr. Writing contest winner after earning the award in 2013 in the feature writing category and then in 2014 in the game reporting category.
also placed a highlight on ESPN and FOX Sports 1 during the 2013 football season by filming and producing a touchdown run highlight by Jermie Calhoun.
The play reached the top spot on ESPNâ€™s Top-10 and he
also promoted basketball player Kenny Williams to the second round of the 2014 State Farm Dark Horse Dunker competition through the use of video, writing and graphic work.Â
Before arriving in San Angelo, Bloomquist
enjoyed a career as a sports journalist in the newspaper industry.
He began his journalism experience as the assistant sports editor at the Duncan Banner in Duncan, Okla., before covering south Texas athletics as a sports writer for three years at the Victoria Advocate.
Bloomquist has worked as a freelance writer for the Austin American-Statesman, Cedar Park Citizen, the Williamson County Sun, and the San Antonio Express-News.
Bloomquist earned his graduate degree from Angelo State in Communication after graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in journalism.
was awarded a Lone Star Conference Sports Information Student Academic Award during graduate school.
While at UT-Tyler
interned in the newsroom at Tyler's CBS 19 television station and wrote for the student newspaper covering men's and women's soccer, men's basketball, softball and baseball.
