Kingman Police Captain Wes Bauer said Bauer (no relation) was weaving in and out of traffic before his car left the roadway striking a pedestrian near Golden Gate Avenue.
The 43 year old Kingman man who was struck suffered a compound ankle fracture and a puncture to his abdomen and was being scheduled for surgery after the accident. ``His injuries were not life-threatening but he was mangled up pretty good," Bauer said. Bauer said the Corsica struck a light pole base before flipping on its top. The suspect fled into a nearby business and out its backdoor while citizens directed pursuing police to his hiding spot. Bauer was taken into custody initially for fleeing the scene of an injury accident. Other charges associated with the traffic incident and the injury of the pedestrian await incident review by the Mohave County Attorney's Office. Police Sergeant Bob Fisk said Bauer was wanted for separate unlawful flight warrants for previous incidents involving Kingman police and the Mohave County Sheriff's Office. Bauer reportedly refused directives of medical officials after he was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center for a checkup. Fisk said Bauer squeezed the finger of a nurse so hard that a ring on her finger was bent. Fisk said Bauer will be charged with injury to a health care worker for that skirmish and that the nurse's finger was possibly broken. Fisk said Bauer is believed to have a street gang affiliation.
