Dr. Lubitz was an Associate Professor of Microbiology at the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany and Associate Professor of Genetics at the University of Munich, Germany.
Since 1987, he has been a Full Professor at the University of Vienna, Austria, first at the Institute of Microbiology and Genetics, and recently at the Department of Medicinal Chemistry.

As inventor of the Bacterial Ghost Platform Technology he holds an extensive international patent portfolio.
In 1998, Dr. Lubitz founded the biotech company BIRD-C in Vienna.
