Some of the hikes scheduled for September and October haven't been offered for some time, says Wendy Ryan, summer outreach co-ordinator with CCWC.
The summer hiking program has been a success with participants hiking the front range canyons of the Castle, the valleys and its tributaries.
Some of the higher alpine lakes have even been hiked this year.
"We're finding these special places we can take people to," says Ryan
"The people in back can learn just as much by walking slowly," points out Ryan
adds many times, long-standing members of the coalition who are on the hikes will take their time reaching the destination, and those individuals who stay back with them will learn more about the floral and fauna they're hiking through.
"That's the advantage of being a slower hiker and staying back with the true-blue hiking leaders," adds Ryan.
