Chief Technology Officer Wendy Hoenig is Chief Technology Officer of Molecular Rebar Design, LLC, leading technology breakthroughs for MRD. Her team's focus is working closely with customers in various applications to ensure that MR meets and exceeds the customers' innovation challenges. Previously, Hoenig was the CEO of H&H Business Development which delivers technology and business due diligence for start-up and private equity firms. Prior to that, she worked for The Dow Chemical Company for 25 years. Positions included Global R&D Director for New Business Development for the Performance Plastics & Chemicals businesses, Vice President of R&D for Dow Coating Solutions, and lastly as Global Business Director in the Ventures & Business Development organization. Hoenig obtained her B.A. in Materials Science from Rice University in Houston, TX in 1986 and completed an Entrepreneurial Studies Executive Education program at Babson College in Wellesley, MA in 1998. Hoenig is a past member of the Georgia Institute of Technology external advisory board for the school of Polymers, Textiles and Fiber Engineering, and she is a past member of the National Paint & Coatings Association Science & Technology Committee. She is a current member of the Plastics Pioneers Association, the Society of Plastics Engineers, and is President of the Board of Directors for the Rice University Engineering Alumni. She is the recipient of four R&D 100 Awards for innovative product commercialization and holds 15 US Patents.

"Low VOC and odor are recurring topics in our discussions with customers and industry leaders," Wendy Hoenig, global director of R&D for Dow Coating Solutions, explained.
"Dow has - through businesses like surfactants, polyurethanes and epoxies - made tremendous advancements in renewable or bio-based feedstocks for coatings raw materials," Hoenig said. Hoenig and the R&D team will continue to look at new technologies to stay ahead of the curve and reduce the business's dependence on petrochemical feedstocks, as well.
Dow Coating Solutions Strengthens Product Development and Research Capabilities with High-Throughput Experimentation Technology
"Using HTE technology, we are changing the way we develop new products and explore new solutions with our customers," Wendy Hoenig, Vice President R&D for Dow Coating Solutions explained.
"Through new polymer development and formulation latitude studies, we are working on innovative solutions that meet historic and emerging industry needs with chemistries we would not have considered before. Current projects include enabling new environmental or ,green' coating formulations, enhanced environmental durability, reduced application and formulation costs, smart coatings and others." Hoenig also explains that by significantly reducing the time it takes to explore and implement new solutions, HTE will allow Dow Coating Solutions to more quickly respond to new customer and industry challenges in areas such as sustainability, regulatory compliance and desired product performance characteristics. implementation at the new coatings R&D labs in Midland, Mich. and Shanghai, The People's Republic of China, the cycle time for development of new formulations is significantly reduced.
