Wenda completed a BSc in Honors Genetics at the University of Western Ontario and a PhD studying purine biosynthesis in the Plant Sciences Department of the same institution. he then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Biochemistry Department at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Dr. Gordin Kaplan, studying DNA strand break repair in early lymphocyte development; this was followed by a second postdoctoral fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital with Dr. Kathy Siminovitch where they localized the gene for Wiskott-Aldrich Syndrome to a region on the X-Chromosome. n 1988, she joined Dr Peter Ray's diagnostic laboratory at the Hospital for Sick Children as a CCMG fellow in the subspecialty of molecular genetics and became a fellow if the college in 1990. he then moved to Halifax to establish and direct the molecular diagnostic laboratory in the Department of Pathology at CDHA, Halifax where she has remained for 25 years.
