Grauel, 83, Michigan City, died at 2:20 p.m. Friday (Feb. 6, 2004) at St. Anthony Memorial Health Centers.Mr. Grauel was born April 20, 1920, in Logansport, Ind., to Walter and Lala (Champ) Grauel.Also surviving are one son, Larry (Phyllis) Grauel, Riverview, Fla.; one daughter, Janet Durnal, Michigan City; two grandsons, Wayne Grauel, Oklahoma City, and William Durnal, Michigan City; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Adrian) Buchta, LaPorte, Julie (Todd) Gumns, Michigan City, and Wendy (Brent) Nagel, Rock Hill, S.C.; and 10 great-grandchildren.Four sisters, Evelyn Lisecki, Violet Spradlin, Elsie Ludwig and Loretta Sink, preceded Mr. Grauel in death.Mr. Grauel retired after 45 years of service at the Pullman Company, where he was an inspector and welder.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, American Legion Skwiat Post 451, VFW 2536 and a life member of Disabled American Veterans 23.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice.E-mail this story
