, Bangkok, Thailand, started to lead tours and treks in the Himalayas of Nepal and India when he
was fourteen years of age in high school.He
has organized and lead many tours, treks and mountaineering teams for over ten years in the Himalayas of Nepal, Tibet, India, and Bhutan before taking off few years to study Environmental Studies in the United States.Then, began 7 days a week work with Discover Asia Travel
since early 1998 to present revisiting the old and new destinations and developing the up to date tour programs in the Mekong Sub-region countries and the Himalayas.Wangdowa Sherpa, 1989
In the Spring of 1988, he
participated with the China-Japan-Nepal Friendship Expedition
team to Mt. Everest from the South-face, climbed up to 27,000 ft. and spent 16 days between the elevations of 19,520 ft. (Camp 1) and 27,000 ft. (above Camp 4) hoping to become the second youngest person in the world to summit Mt. Everest 8848 m. Cheap dirty politics prevented him from becoming second youngest person to scale the world's highest mountain. (See Wangdowa's photographs of Mt. Furthermore, while studying in the US, he
worked part-time in American travel companies (Adventure Center Travel a division of Adventure Center
, and Third Eye Travel) and helped design and promote many tours to the Himalayas, Southeast Asia and other parts of Asia.
Now, with more than 15 years of adventure and leisure travel organizing and leading experience and environmental studies background, Wangdowa Sherpa
personally designs environment friendly leisure and adventure tours, ecotours, treks and expeditions in Thailand with extensions to its neighboring Mekong Sub-region countries (Myanmar, Kunming/China, Loas, Vietnam and Cambodia) in Southeast Asia, and in Nepal with extensions throughout the Himalayan neighbors (India, Tibet/China, Bhutan, Pakistan and Mongolia).His
goal is to develop a sustainable and responsible tourism so that we can save today's exciting destinations for the future generation to enjoy.
OUTDOOR SPORTS AND TOURISM SKILLS TRAINING:
(a). Wangdowa Sherpa
successfully completed Basic and Advance Mountaineering and Rescue Training offered by the Government of Himachal Pradesh, Department of Mountaineering
And Allied Sports in Manali, India.Nepal Mountaineering Association
issued him a certificate of acceptance and honored the above training received from the Indian mountaineering school.
participated in the Trekking-Tour Guide training course offered by His Majesty's
Government Ministry of Tourism, Hotel Management and Tourism Training Center, Kathmandu, Nepal.
HIGHER EDUCATION:He has studied at California State University at Hayward, USA and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies in June 14, 1997.
In addition, he
took many tourism management training courses, studied general business management and computer courses.
