Nicolae Moldoveanu is currently Chief Conductor of the Transylvanian State Philharmonic Orchestra. Maestro Moldoveanu was born in Romania and studied both violin and piano as a child. Upon graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, he was awarded the Edwin Samuel Dove Prize for special merit as well as the Ricordi Conducting Prize. An associate of Britian's Royal Academy of music, Moldoveanu has worked with many orchestras, most recently, two subscription weeks with the Royal Philharmonic in London as well as the Zürich Chamber Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich, Berlin . . . Symphony Orchestra, the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Staatskapelle Dresden, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, BBC Concert, Manchester Camerata, Netherlands Radio Symphony, Stockholm Chamber Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra Johannesburg, and has returned to his native Romania to work with the Transylvania and George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestras.

Nicolae Moldoveanu was born in Romania and began violin and piano studies as a child.He went on to study conducting in Germany, the UK and Switzerland where he now lives in Zurich as a Swiss citizen.His first professional contract began in 1982 as a violinist, followed by an appointment as a repetiteur and conductor at the Altmarkt Theatre in the former East Germany.

Nicolae Moldoveanu has worked with the Philharmonia Chorus of London, the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus and the Tölzer Knabenchor in Munich as well as the Transylvanian Chorus with whom he conducted the first Romanian performance of Walton's Belshazzar's Feast.
In 1994 Nicolae Moldoveanu was appointed Arts Council Young Conductor to the Bournemouth Orchestras.Following a year's extension of this appointment, he was offered the post of Resident Conductor, which he took up in 1996.In 1998 Nicolae Moldoveanu was appointed Principal Conductor of English Sinfonia.In September 2002 Nicolae Moldoveanu took up the position of Associate Guest Conductor with the London Mozart Players.

Nicolae Moldoveanu was born in Romania and began violin and piano studies as a child.He went on to study conducting in Germany, the UK and Switzerland where he now lives in Zurich as a Swiss citizen.His first professional contract began in 1982 as a violinist, followed by an appointment as a repetiteur and conductor at the Altmarkt Theatre in the former East Germany.
In 1986 he studied conducting with Wilfried Boettcher, Horst Stein, Ralf Weikert and Antal Dorati at the Musikhochschule in Zürich, Basel and Bern, also attending master classes with Lothar Zagrosek and Sergiu Celibidache.
In the UK, whilst at the Royal Academy of Music in London, his teachers included Colin Metters, George Hurst and Sir Colin Davis.He also took part in master classes with, amongst others, Ilya Musin, Leonard Slatkin and Sir Roger Norrington.Upon graduating from the Academy, he was awarded the Edwin Samuel Dove Prize for special merit as well as the Ricordi Conducting Prize.In 1997 he was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
He has worked with many Swiss orchestras including Winterthur, the Basel Symphony and Radio Orchestras, the Zürich Chamber Orchestra and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zürich; in Germany with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Bayerischer Rundfunk Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of the Staatskapelle Dresden.In April 1994, at the invitation of Hans-Werner Henze, he conducted performances of contemporary opera at the Munich Biennale.He has also worked with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Scottish, BBC Concert, Manchester Camerata, Netherlands Radio Symphony, Stockholm Chamber Orchestra, Stavanger Symphony Orchestra and National Symphony Orchestra Johannesburg, and has returned to his native Romania to work with the Transylvania and George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestras.He has broadcast live for BBC Radio 3, Bavarian Radio and the South African Broadcasting Corporation.

His recent engagements include conducting the London Mozart Players, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House with Angela Gheorghiu, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of London Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, English Chamber Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra at the Edinburgh Festival, Orchestra del Teatro Comunale Genoa, Melbourne Symphony, West Australian Symphony, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Philharmonie de Lorraine, Odense Symphony, Sonderjyllands Symphony, Prague Radio Symphony, Danish Radio Sinfonietta and Bucharest Philharmonic.He conducted Don Giovanni for Welsh National Opera and Coppelia for the Royal Ballet in the opening season at the rebuilt Royal Opera House.Last season he conducted in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovenia, Sweden and the Netherlands and made his debut with the Ulster Orchestra and with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.He made his North American debut conducting a new production of Idomeneo for Canadian Opera in 2001.

Nicolae conducts "a song more silent: new works for remembrance": a CD to be released on the Avie label in October and featuring new works for choir and orchestra commissioned by Portsmouth Grammar School to mark Remembrance Day.
