Virginia LaTour, deputy city clerk for the City of Quinte West, said in the 2006 election there were four people running for mayor and 17 for council.
With the current number of people having already filed their papers, she
said, it's possible the same numbers may be reached this year.
"It looks like we may because we still have some councillors who haven't filed who have verbally shown some interest so it could go that high," LaTour
said adding there are still "three or four" nomination packages which have yet to be returned to the clerk's office.
The higher numbers, she
said, are nice to see.
"There's so much work that goes into the election I hope people do get out there and vote," she
