Racial profiling is alive and well in Arizona , said Virginia Herrera-Gonzales , chief counsel of the civil rights division of the Arizona Attorney General's Office.Seeking to deal with the issue , the Attorney General's Office sponsored two racial profiling conferences last year for its staff , members of law enforcement and the community.Proposed solutions include the creation and implementation of law enforcement policies and procedures , and police officers need to gain language skills to help communicate with members of their community.Community members are encouraged to communicate with law enforcement and to recognize that it's a small percentage of officers with individual biases who are guilty.
