The worldwide orthodontic community lost an icon this week with the sudden passing of Dr. Vince G. Kokich
A clinician, educator and author, Dr. Kokich influenced a generation of orthodontic professionals and will be missed by colleagues and patients for years to come.
Dr. Kokich served as a Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington, where he published 21 book chapters, 97 scientific articles, and 48 review articles.
has given over 900 presentations throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa, Australia, and Asia, and has lectured to the Orthodontic Societies
in over 50 different countries.
In recent years he served as Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics, in which he wrote a monthly editorial that inspired practitioners throughout the world.
retired from private practice in 2010, which he
shared with his
son, Dr. Vincent O. Kokich Jr., in Tacoma, Washington.
He continued to serve as editor, associate editor, and a member of the editorial advisory boards of several journals.
He has served as President of both the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and the American Board of Orthodontics.
