Vince Evans Choir Master/Organist
music@holy-cross.org 404-284-1211 Vince Evans has been the Organist and Choirmaster at The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Decatur, GA since October 2013, and is the principal organist at the Lovett School. He has served as a full-time music minister and organist for churches in Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina and Georgia. Prior to serving in Atlanta, he served as Minister of Music and Organist at First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, GA, and was president of the Warner Robins Community Concert Association. He was also very active in the Macon Chapter of the American Guild of Organists from 2005 - 2010 and continues to be an active member of the American Guild of Organists Atlanta Chapter, serving on the membership committee. He began his musical career at the age of 15 serving as organist and assistant to the minister of music at the First Baptist Church in Jasper, GA. Vince attended Shorter College in Rome, GA, receiving a Bachelor of Church Music degree in Organ studying with Dr. Peter DeWitt, and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance studying with Dr. John Jennings. Vince completed his Master of Music degree at Southwestern Theological Seminary studying organ with Dr. Albert Travis, vocal performance pedagogy with Dr. David Robinson, and conducting with Dr. David Keith. An avid educator, Mr. Evans taught music (Grades K-6) in the Iredell-Statesville School System in Statesville, NC. Vince has also taught at the undergraduate level serving as assistant professor music history and music appreciation for Mitchell College in Statesville, and for Georgia Military College in Warner Robins, GA. Additionally, Vince has taught private piano, organ, and voice for over 30 years, and has led his students to win scholarship competitions in piano and voice, and superior ratings in the Federated Music Clubs of America. Several of his students are now teaching in higher education and are leaders in church music. Mr. Evans is also involved in the Baker Choral Foundation, singing and serving as rehearsal accompanist in the Lynn Swanson Festival Singers. Vince performs regularly as an organist, vocalist, and conductor, and most recently has performed with the Air Force Brass Quintet stationed at Robins Air Force Base performing works for organ and brass, and is featured on the group's first recording Fire Power.

Rev. Vince Evans was born in Tate, Ga., and lived between Jasper, GA and Palmdale, CA during his childhood years. Vince attended First Baptist Church in Jasper and later made a profession of faith and was baptized into the fellowship of that congregation. It was also at this time when he felt called to serve full-time in music ministry. Vince attended Shorter College in Rome, GA receiving a Bachelor of Church Music degree in Organ and a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. He went on to pursue graduate studies at Scarritt Graduate School, Nashville, TN. Vince completed his Master of Music degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has pursued further graduate work at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. Vince has served as a full-time music minister and organist for churches in Louisiana, Texas, North Carolina and Georgia, and he was assistant professor of music at Mitchell College in Statesville, NC. Prior to serving Wieuca Road Baptist Church, Vince was full-time Minister of Music and Organist at First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins, GA, adjunct professor of music at Georgia Military College, and president of the Warner Robins Community Concert Association. Vince performs regularly as an organist, vocalist, and conductor, and most recently concertised with the Air Force Brass Quintet stationed at Robins Air Force Base performing works for organ and brass. Rev. Evans has two children, a daughter, Saralynne, who presently lives in Banner-Elk, North Carolina, and a son, John Christian who is a junior at North Atlanta High School in the School of Fine Arts. Reverend Vince EvansMusic Director/Organist Reverend Evans is originally from Georgia, just north of Atlanta.He has been a minister of music for over 20 years and holds a Bachelors degree in performance and Church music from Shorter College in Rome, GA; a Master,s degree in Performance from Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth Texas; and additional theological studies from New Orleans Seminary.Vince is married and has two children a son 10 and daughter 18.
