Police sources fear that Malhotra has gone underground to avenge the death of his slain associate Farid Tanasha early last month.
is one of the few remaining members of the Rajan gang, who could spring a surprise and speculations are abuzz that he
could revive the gang.
Malhotra's disappearance has raised fears that he
could be regrouping with his
gang members to target Bharat Nepali, who masterminded the killing of Malhotra's best friend Tanasha.
Malhotra is the last surviving aide of the Chhota Rajan gang who is powerful enough to take over the mantle of the gang in the country.
and Tanasha were nabbed by a team of Mumbai crime branch officers in New Delhi in November 2005.
and other key members like Tanasha, D K Rao, Yusuf Bachkana, Kalia Rajan were absolved of the charges after they were booked under the provisions of MCOCA in 2005.
The High Court had set these members free and a few of the members, including Malhotra
, were asked to report twice a month to the police stations concerned.
Advocate Mahesh Mule said Malhotra
was given bail on the condition that he
had to report to the police station twice a week.
"There are three days remaining in July.
