Herb Brooks Foundation inducts Brodt Family into Youth Hockey Hall of Fame at Golf Classic

Vic Brodt, the oldest of the Brodt children, played high school hockey for Alexander Ramsey High School, after which he played college hockey for the St. Cloud State Huskies.
During his freshman season (1986) for the Huskies, Vic played under legendary coach Herb Brooks. Following his collegiate career, Vic took over as the head women's hockey coach at Roseville High School where he led his team to the 2010 Class AA state title. Vic's daughter, Hanna, played on the 2010 State Champion team. Jack Brodt, father of Winny, Chelsey, Vic, Tony, and Kerry, founded the Minnesota Whitecaps in 2004, seeking to provide an opportunity for his daughters to continue playing the sport they loved after graduating from college.

Vic Brodt, Jack's oldest child, also attended Alexander Ramsey High School, where he had an impressive career at the rink.
Vic went on to St. Cloud State, where he captained the men's ice hockey team and tallied 143 points over four years. "I played for him in 1987, just seven years after the Miracle on Ice," Vic said. For Vic, Brooks' coaching was more than just on-ice strategy. Obviously he knew the game in and out, but it was the little things that I'll remember, the little comments and the Brooks-isms," Vic said. Following his playing career, Vic switched to the coaching side of hockey, taking the reins first in youth hockey in Roseville before accepting the job as Roseville Area High School head girls' hockey coach. People don't often get that opportunity, it was fantastic," Vic said. Despite his primary relation as father, Vic did not alter his coaching of Hanna, or succumb to nepotism and favoritism. She was Brodt, she wasn't Hanna," Vic said. She was Brodt, she wasn't Hanna," Vic said. Hanna's aunt and Vic's eldest sister, Kerry, was the first head coach of the St. Cloud State women's hockey team. "There is a big separation in age among all our siblings," Vic said. You want to share that with your kids, and give them an opportunity and hopefully they pass it on to their kids," Vic said.
