A Bernama report states that Prof Ungku Aziz is of the opinion that the youths of today, in Malaysia, are facing a severe problem with identity.

Most youths in the country are now facing an identity crisis which resulted in this group being unable to make decisions, said renowned academic Royal Professor Ungku Aziz.
Ungku Aziz, who is also president of Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa), said a study must be carried out to determine the problems faced by these youths because they would become the country's second echelon leaders.
"The youths of today are greatly influenced by the media," he said in the Premier Debate on the youths at the Auditorium Perdana, Angkasapuri Sunday night.
Of Akademi Fantasia and TVC's, he had this to say.
Referring to reality television programmes such the "Akademi Fantasia" (AF) and TV commercials, Ungku Aziz felt that TV commercials and reality programmes influenced the youths in their decision making and this posed a burden to them in deciding which was good or bad for them.
