President Sang later left the Russian capital concluding a five-day official visit to Russia.
told the forum that two-way trade was expected to hit US$3 billion this year, adding that Russia was implementing several key projects in Viet Nam
, especially in oil and gas, mining, energy and tourism â€" and particularly the project to build the nation's first nuclear power plant.
The President underscored the necessity to work out breakthrough measures, including the early signing of a free-trade agreement between Viet Nam
and the customs alliance of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.
On the same day, Sang
received Chairman of the Communist Party of Russia
(CPR) Gennady Zyuganov.
Later, Sang had a meeting with the Acting Chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, Alexander Torshin, who described the President's visit to Russia as an important political event in the two countries' political life.
During his visit, President Sang met academician Osipov, President of the Russia Academy of Sciences (RAS), and witnessed the signing of a co-operation agreement between the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology and the RAS for the 2012-2017 period.
He also visited Gazprom Gas Company, the largest of its kind in Russia and also a strategic partner of PetroVietnam.
