Kimler lives on the eastern border of the state, in the region known as the Quad Cities.
"We have two major cities, Bettendorf and Davenport in Iowa and Moline and Rock Island are on the Illinois side.The cities are joined by two bridges and many people come to this area for vacations," said Kimler
, whose area also hosts a variety of water sports, cardboard regattas and sailing on the Mississippi River.
Sportsâ€"especially youth and high school sportsâ€"is very popular.
"We have six high schools, so football season is exciting with competition," she
said, noting that the region is also full of movie theaters, three riverboat gambling boats, art museums, and music venues, not to mention many large park systems and summer festivals.

Housing costs are very reasonable, according to Kimler
