Tony Rizzo, Jim Donovan and Andy Baskin walk into a bar.
One hundred people would probably gather around Rizzo, they said. And Baskin would be one of the hundred people around Rizzo. Rizzo, of course, is the longtime Fox 8 veteran and homer-ific host of The Really Big Show on WKNR 850 AM. He's also the most popular sports talk radio personality in town, and for good reason ... by comparison. He's combined decades of experience with a willingness to show some semblance of personality in a business that often finds itself deliberating on the seriousness of a groin pull. More than that, however, and in a much more accurate way of describing Rizzo's talent, he's the most successful infomercial host in Cleveland. Guy can flat out hawk product. Bee pollen wonder pills, windows, cars, jewelry, steaks - you name it, he can sell it. On one recent Tuesday morning - August 25 - Rizzo kicked off the rundown by saying that they didn't really have any guests for the day. The show would be carried by Rizzo along with his co-host, former NFL player Je'Rod Cherry, who doesn't get to talk all that much but mentions that he won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots when he does; and the show's two producers, Casey and Matt, who we can't tell apart and who mainly take turns trying to impress Rizzo. The Really Big Show broke tradition in that regard: Rizzo came in with two wins, Cherry had the Browns with eight, and Matt/Casey had a total of 12 wins between them. "Man, Cleveland is a great place to live and raise a family," Rizzo said. Rizzo, more than anyone else in the market, attempts, or attempted at one point, to have fun.

Tony Rizzo Arrested For Domestic VIolence (Updated)
Update (3/27/2014): Tony Rizzo pleaded no contest to a lesser charge this morning, a fourth degree misdemeanor of "persistent disorderly conduct." *** Original story (12/9/2013): Tony Rizzo, the 52-year-old host of The Really Big Show on ESPN Radio in Cleveland and the Rizzo Show on Fox 8 on Sundays, was arrested at his home in Medina on Friday on charges of domestic violence. His wife called 911 while locked in the bathroom at 8:17 p.m. on Friday, according to the report from the Medina police. Rizzo had been drinking before choking her and hitting her in the face: "My husband is hurting me and he's very irate and I'm really scared," she told the dispatcher. Rizzo, whose radio show airs weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m, briefly mentioned the incident on air today, but said he couldn't elaborate, according to a listener. He quickly moved on to talk about the Browns. He was on air yesterday doing his normal Browns coverage. Fox 8, the station that employs Rizzo, was the first to report the story just after 11 a.m. today: "Tony Rizzo sent a text to Fox 8 News, in which he declined to comment on his arrest and the domestic violence allegations." *** Update (1:35 p.m): Scene obtained the audio of the 911 call Tony Rizzo's wife made as she was locked in her bathroom Friday night. She mentions Rizzo was banging on the door but left when he realized she was calling the police and that he had a gun in the house. Tony Rizzo domestic violence 911 call Wife: Tony Rizzo. Radio sports talker Tony Rizzo was found guilty Thursday of disorderly conduct stemming from his arrest following a domestic dispute with his wife late last year.
Rizzo, 52, of Medina, pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor charge during an appearance in Medina Municipal Court. He will be sentenced later after his case is reviewed by probation officials. Rizzo is the host of The Really Big Show on WKNR radio, and hosts The Rizzo Show, which airs each Sunday on WJW. He was originally arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence in December after his wife called 911 and told the dispatcher, "My husband is hurting me, and he's very irate and I'm really scared."
