Tony Guillory, vice president of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, has been a mainstay in the Abraham's Tent kitchen over the last 16 years.
Thursday, he was focused on using his skill in the kitchen to make rice dressing.
Guillory said his reason for volunteering every year began as just filling time and turned into something that feels like a family affair.
"A long time ago, I was at home around this time with nothing to do, and I thought 'Let me go do something.' I came here and I've been coming back to help ever since," he said.

Mr. Guillory served from 2004 to 2008 as a member of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury representing District 4 and was re-elected for the 2012-2016 term.
He served as Vice-President of the Police Jury in 2014 and is an active member of various Police Jury Committees, as well as liaison to numerous special service districts, boards and agencies throughout the Parish.
On the State level, Mr. Guillory is an at-large member of the Executive Board of the Louisiana Police Jury Association, as well as Vice President of the Black Caucus of the Louisiana Police Jury Association.
He was also a member of the Association's Community Development Committee and the Criminal Justice Committee.
On the national level, Guillory is a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo), and in 2013 was appointed to NACo's Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee which helps establish goals and policy priorities of the Association.
He was recently appointed to a leadership position as Vice Chair of the Housing Subcommittee of the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee.
Mr. Guillory is also a member of the National Association of Black County Officials (NABCo), and the NABCo Legislative Committee.
He served as a member-at-large on the Executive Board of NABCo and as Treasurer of the organization.
