Anthony Cacchione graduated from Villanova University in 1988 after receiving his BSBA in Finance.While pursuing his degree, he began his career as a customer service representative at Bryn Mawr Trust Company.He quickly moved into the internal audit department where he was responsible for assessing and reporting on the operational and financial soundness of the bank.Shortly after graduating from Villanova, he was named the Division Controller of Retail Banking.In this position, he was responsible for budgeting and forecasting for the division, product development of retail deposit products, and operational analysis of divisional services.
In 1990, Mr. Cacchione joined SunAmerica in Los Angeles as an Accounting Manager.He managed six accountants responsible for the settlement of cash transactions, suspended cash items, and bank statements.Another responsibility was the appropriate determination of reserving levels.While at SunAmerica, he was also crucial in the creation of a computer system that automatically developed the monthly financial reports from system-generated data.
In 1992, Mr. Cacchione was hired by PolicyServices Corporation to spearhead its sale to The Robert Plan Corporation.After the completion of the sale, he joined the Robert Plan and was named Director of Voluntary Insurance.In this position, he was responsible for the creation, management, and marketing of a voluntary physical damage insurance company with a primary focus on under-served, urban markets using the independent broker market.He created and filed rates and rules with the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance, appointed brokers to distribute the product, managed underwriting, and established claims and processing operations for the voluntary business of the company.Mr. Cacchione was promoted to the position of Assistant Vice President of Financial Analysis.In this position he was charged with analysis and price determination of the company's Assigned Risk book of business.
Throughout Mr. Cacchione's career, he has developed considerable expertise using loss development triangles, ultimate projections, frequency, and severity trends.He has analyzed third-party administration businesses to determine appropriate pricing and the adequacy of rating cells.He analyzed claims practices and procedures and advised Claims Management of inadequacies in maintaining an effective and efficient operation.He determined appropriate reserving limits and practices.And, he has analyzed all phases of growth for his clients to determine adequacy and profitability.
As a logical step in evolving his project management and analytical skills, Mr. Cacchione entered professional consulting in 1996.His areas of specialty include: Strategic Management, Product Development, Market Development, Systems Analysis and Development, Actuarial and Financial Analysis, Direct Marketing and Broker/Agent Development.
Professional Experience
Major Annuity/Life Insurance Company – as assistant project manager, Mr. Cacchione and his team guided this client during the analysis and blueprinting phase of an SAP implementation in the Financial Accounting area.Nucleus also reengineered the client's current processes to fully utilize the SAP modules and become more efficient, thus creating tremendous value.
Crystal Importer/Manufacturer – Mr. Cacchione was responsible for locating and negotiating an outsourcing agreement with a warehouse for this client's distribution system.He also replaced the client's outdated inventory database structure with new solution to make order processing more efficient and ultimately better serve the client's customers.
Regional Property and Casualty Insurance Company (Philadelphia, PA) – This client asked Mr. Cacchione to assist them in finding ways to increase annual written premium.Mr. Cacchione assisted them in creating new product lines that complemented their existing products, enhancing and re-pricing their existing products, and securing new agents in an expanded market area.This new approach resulted in a 50% increase in written premium in the first year.
Automobile Insurance Carrier (Philadelphia, PA) – This client hired Mr. Cacchione for a number of projects over an extended timeframe.He was initially asked to analyze and make recommendations on new product proposals and initiatives.Once the recommendations were accepted, he assisted them in making the filings of the new products and changes to the existing products with the Department of Insurance.He was then asked to establish and manage a direct marketing campaign.After the successful kickoff of the direct marketing campaign, he was retained to review all operational procedures for Underwriting and Claims and make recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiencies.He recommended system enhancements Once agreement was obtained on the recommendations, he was responsible for reviewing system purchases and managing the migration to the new systems.
Computer Software Developer (Wilmington, DE) – This client retained Mr. Cacchione to assist them in the execution of their market expansion plan.He was responsible for setting up the contact database system, documenting contact scripting and procedures, and initiating contact with key prospects.
Major Regional Bank (Philadelphia, PA) – This multi-billion dollar corporation was experiencing a tremendous amount of growth in their Commercial Banking division and was unable to successfully manage their client database for corporate marketing events.Mr. Cacchione was asked to create a temporary customer tracking system to manage customer-oriented marketing events until a more permanent solution could be reviewed.Mr. Cacchione created a multi-tiered relational database with a front-end application that ultimately became the basis for the specification of the permanent system.After implementation of the temporary system and training the client's staff, Mr. Cacchione created and managed the RFP process for selecting the permanent system.
Telemarketing Company (Philadelphia, PA) – Because of Mr. Cacchione's prior experience in the telemarketing field, he was retained to create a new telemarketing unit, develop a system to record and report results from telemarketing activities, and compare them to the current policy information, and automate trend analysis.
