In this role, Barra
is responsible for developing connected home business models and value chain analyses and new member recruitment. Barra
recently launched his
own consulting firm specializing in business model development and value chain analysis for the connected home industry.Prior to forming Filament Consulting, Barra was a principal at DiamondCluster International, a leading digital strategy firm.Barra led many projects including a detailed economic analysis of the value chain for delivering Internet based managed services to residential customers and a white paper evaluating the many technology protocols competing in today's home networking marketplace.Barra has led the development of a strategic partnership framework that assesses the strengths of companies in each segment of the connected home industry. Additional industries in which Barra led projects included real estate, energy, financial services and consumer products.Prior to that Barra was with Electronic Data Systems for nine years holding several leadership positions with expertise in product development processes and design technologies.Barra held positions with Ohmeda Medical Engineering and General Motors Corp.Barra has a MBA from the University of Michigan where he graduated with high distinction and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from General Motors Institute.
In this presentation, Tony
will share select research results from an Internet Home Alliance-sponsored study on home technology ownership.The focus of this Web study was single-family, owner-occupied households with Internet access.The study of 1,919 qualified U.S. households covered, in part, the relationship between the adoption of broadband and home networks as well as the likely adoption of specific bandwidth-hungry, network-required services.The study looked at products and services for entertainment, career and family solutions.Tony
will characterize the current broadband market and identify related market opportunities.
