Then-County Judge Tommy Altaras told a meeting of the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce directors that "Parkland called and wanted to know who was going to pay the hospital bills."He
is reported as saying the county will probably be stuck with the medical expenses along with the bill for the trials.Altaras
said because of the severity of the charges, he
expected there will be few efforts at plea bargaining in any of the cases.
All five suspects were charged with aggravated kidnapping and each had a bail of $150,000.He
only had one option to fund the trials and that would be to amend the 1984-85 budget.
