After leading a discussion of Aurora's preliminary budget before the public, Mayor Thomas H. Gunderson was surprised by an added item to his agenda - a resolution recognizing his "many years of devoted and diligent service."
"We acknowledge the end of a great era - The Gunderson Years," the resolution read.
It also recognized his
"dedication to the public good and public benefit of the Citizens of Aurora.
Gunderson served three terms as mayor from 1998 to the present.
"I very humbly thank you," Gunderson
had two brothers who had served in the military, but he
was never called up, so he
always thought of serving the community.
