Summa Health System named Tallmadge resident Tom DeBord president of Summa Barberton and Summa Wadsworth-Rittman hospitals.
He assumes the position permanently after serving as interim president since July 1.
In his new role, DeBord is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the two hospitals as well as serving as a member of the Summa Health System leadership team.
"I cannot think of a better person to lead Summa Barberton and Summa Wadsworth-Rittman hospitals than Tom DeBord," said Summa Health System President and CEO Tom Strauss.
DeBord brings 22 years of hospital administration experience to his new role, having started his career at Barberton Citizens Hospital in 1988.
He was named COO in 2002 and became COO for both Summa Barberton and Summa Wadsworth-Rittman hospitals in 2008.

DeBord is a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Barberton and a board member for both the American Heart Association and Tallmadge Grow Inc.
He is active in his church, currently serving on the Charitable Funds Committee and as a eucharistic minister.
He earned both a bachelor's degree in accounting and his MBA from the University of Akron and also is a fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives.
