www.vestory.com

Thomas C. Cock
Founder Managing Partner Tom is a long time financial journalist, investment manager, business owner and college lecturer. Prior to founding Vestory in 2009, Tom was a partner in one of the largest investment advisory firms in the country. Tom played a key role in the growth of that firm for over a decade, and was instrumental in making it one of the fastest growing privately held companies in Washington state. In his current capacity Tom oversees the advising, compliance and business operations of Vestory as well as working with his own clients. He is also a regular speaker, and a featured guest on "The Don McDonald Show," a nationally broadcast radio program. Tom has been a financial journalist for over 25 years, including 5 years as host of PBS' Serious Money, where he was nominated for a Regional Emmy. Active in his community, Tom is currently a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Council for Whitman College, and was a founding member of the Washington News Council. He also heads the Thomas C. Turner Memorial Scholarship, and has served on the boards of many community organizations. An active sportsman, Tom is a licensed soccer referee and spends considerable time officiating high school games.

"Milliseconds is what it's all about now," says Tom Cock, Managing Director of Vestory, an investment advisory firm in Kirkland.
Speed and distance is now so important, large brokerage houses have their trading computers inches away from the main computers running the exchanges in order to cut down on lag time. "So that when trades are made in the exchange, they can immediately see those trades and respond to them in an algorithmic way that allows them to have advantages over the everyman," says Cock. If a trader's computer could see how the market responds to a trade milliseconds before it's actually made, the implications would be enormous. "Then the field is not level at all," says Cock.
