HOUSTON, April 27, 2009 - Hogan & Hartson LLP is pleased to announce that Tom Bayko will join the firm's litigation group in Houston as a partner. Bayko, described as a "litigator-of-choice for international conflicts" by The Houston Business Journal, will focus his practice on international litigation and arbitration.
Although best known for his trial and arbitration work in the energy sector, Bayko has extensive experience in a range of matters, including matters involving commodities, futures and derivatives trading, antitrust, securities, fraud, insurance coverage, intellectual property, employment-related matters, tortious interference with contractual and prospective contractual relationships, construction claims, production sharing agreements, joint operating agreements, take or pay agreements, theft of technology and other trade secrets, and offshore blowouts and explosions.
His clients include multinational companies in various industries, including oil and gas, chemical, rail, and construction. He has tried cases before courts in multiple jurisdictions and has tried cases and arbitrations under the applicable laws of 31 countries, including Afghanistan, China, England, Germany, Iraq, Kuwait, Mexico, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and Venezuela, among many others.
