overseas development career as a Peace Corps
volunteer in Guatemala from 1981-1983.He has worked for USAID in Guatemala, Honduras, and Bolivia on projects in the areas of municipal development, the rule of law, citizen participation in democracy, and disaster assistance.
From 1987-1991, Sloan
served as Associate Peace Corps
Director for Programming and Training in Guatemala.Sloan has a B.A. in Political Science, Latin American Area Studies, and Spanish from Willamette University, Ore.He did graduate work in International Agricultural Development at the University of California, Davis.Sloan
is from Sacramento, Calif.
