Todd Mowery graduated last year from Logan County High School, but had been on homebound instruction since October 2008.
He is diagnosed with Fabry disease, a lipid storage disorder caused by a faulty enzyme or lack of the enzyme needed to metabolize lipids, which are fat-like substances such as oils, waxes and fatty acids, according to the National Institutes of Health. On May 8, 2009, Todd Mowery was not allowed into his senior party held at Gatti's Pizza at the Fountain Place Mall in Logan. Todd Mowery graduated last year from Logan County High School, but had been on homebound instruction since October 2008. In a response to Carlene Mowery's complaint, U.S. Department of Education investigators concluded that by barring Todd Mowery from the senior party, Logan school officials violated Section 504 and some of his other rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Last spring, Todd went on to graduate with his classmates and was able to attend his senior breakfast, but only after a TV news reporter started asking county school officials some questions, Carlene Mowery said. Todd Mowery is now a student at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College.

Your actions just improved conditions for a lot of other kids who experience mistreatment from the Logan County Board of Education. I'd love to hear what these particular teachers, who threw Todd out in the rain, have to say for themselves. Wasn't there one teacher with some common sense or compassion? Unbelievable... Go Todd, I hope you get justice for yourself and other children in your position.
