This year's masterclass was held in February and once again the lead tutor was a member of the Lycydas Trio - this time Toby Tramaseur, their violinist.

Toby TramaseurToby Tramaseur graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with Distinction from the post-graduate course in October 2004, where he was a member of the Royal Academy Soloists; an elite group of 13 string players under the direction of Clio Gould.In 2005 Toby moved to Vienna to further his studies under Professor Yair Kless and is currently continuing with Prof. Kless at the University of Graz, Austria, on the Masters Programme.Toby made his Concerto debut at 16, performing Mozart's 5th Violin Concerto and in the same year became a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.In 2001, Toby won first prize in the J&A Beare Classical Concerto Competition.He graduated from Trinity College of Music in 2002 with a 1st Class Honours Degree and the Nicholas Roth Prize.Toby has been awarded scholarships to take part in masterclasses in England, the USA, Germany and Austria with Ruggiero Ricci, Rainer Küchel, Yair Kless, Tasmin Little and Thomas Brandis amongst others.Toby is a founder member of the Lycydas Piano Trio, which has been performing together for over 7 years.Toby is thankful for the support of the Abbado European Young Musicians Trust and the Kathleen and Margery Elliot Trust Fund.

Toby Tramaseur - Violin Toby Tramaseur completed the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Apprenticeship Scheme in 2006, as one of two violinists chosen, and has since regularly performed, recorded and toured with the orchestra across Europe and Asia. As well as working with the LPO, Toby frequently performs in London’s west-end musicals, various film sessions and was previously a member of the Recreation Grosses Orchestra, Graz (Austria). In 2001, Toby won first prize in the J&A Beare Classical Concerto Competition and graduated from Trinity College of Music in 2002 with a 1st Class Honours Degree, the Nicholas Roth Memorial Prize and the L.T.C.L in pedagogy (Licenciate Trinity College London). Toby continued his studies with scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music under Diana Cummings, where he was a member of the Royal Academy Soloists, graduating with distinction and the L.R.A.M (Licenciate Royal Academy of Muisc) from the post-graduate course. From 2006-2008 he completed his studies in the prestigious class of Professor Yair Kless at the University of Graz, Austria. Toby has been awarded scholarships to take part in Masterclasses in Europe and the USA with Ruggiero Ricci, Rainer Küchel, Yair Kless, Tasmin Little and Thomas Brandis amongst others.
