Leaving a successful career as a graphic designer on the U.S. Mainland, Tina Tatai moved her life to Hawaii for a one-year sabbatical to resume a relationship with her first love - painting.
Tina Tatai, was born in Ohio where her passion for creativity began at a very early age.Primarily a self-taught artist, she completed her first professional landscape in oils at age nine, accepted commissions for her portraiture work and began illustrating the various scenes of life surrounding her.At twelve years of age, Tina Tatai studied drawing and fine art disciplines in advanced courses at The Cooper School, The Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Museum of Art.
Tina Tatai began a professional career in the commercial world of art as a graphic designer/illustrator in Cleveland and later Chicago.She resumed her fine art drawing and painting full time once again when she set up her studio on the gentle foothills of the Wainae Mountains of Oahu.After leaving her island paradise in 1997, Tina reestablished her studio in the artist community of Southern California.
Referring to photographic studies taken during her 15 years of travels and incorporating computer graphics programs to help visualize compositions and color, her realistic images portray the beauty, the awesome power and the essence of nature.

Enjoying a successful career as head of a graphic design firm in Chicago, Tatai left it all behind to resume a relationship with her first love - painting.
Tina Tatai was born in Ohio where her passion for creativity began from the time she could hold a pencil.Primarily a self-taught artist, she completed her first professional landscape in oils at age nine and accepted commissions for her portraiture work.At the age of twelve, she studied drawing and fine art disciplines in advanced courses at The Cooper School of Art and The Cleveland Art Institute.For over 25 years, she pursued a professional career as a graphic designer/creative director in Cleveland culminating in Chicago.She resumed her fine art drawing and painting full time once again in 1996 after moving to the island of Oahu.Returning to the U.S. mainland in 1997, she reestablished her studio in the artist community of Southern California where she began to experiment with abstract themes and contemporary imagery.Drawing upon her commercial background, she relies upon her design instincts to create work which she feels best expresses her artistic voice and sensitivities.
Tatai's accomplished work has won many awards and her work can be found in many private and corporate collections worldwide.
