Tim Winters, Code Enforcement Officer for Ashe County said that as a registered trailer under N.C. Department of Transportation standards, Stanley's trailers met the requirements and that, he as well, saw no difference in Canoe trailers and a construction company trailer.
"When they go to a build site they park their trailers where they can be seen from the road because they want people to know who is building it. Under the ordinance, at least to me, his trailers are not being used solely for signage. They meet the requirements.
Winters said he had witnessed the trailers being used and not just parked.

They moved towards the danger," said President of the Ashe County Honor Guard Tim Winters.
Winters also thanked the nearly 4,500 American service men and women who have been killed in the service of their country since 9/11, and the many thousands who have been wounded.
"God bless the military who fight for us, the emergency service members who protect us, and God bless the USA," said Winters.

They put their life up for this country," said Ashe County Honor Guard Commander Tim Winters. "We are true volunteers and we are not out for a thank you."
According to the Ashe Honor Guard's website, the local chapter was formed in 2007, after some volunteer members passed away and there was no one ready to do the job at hand.
"One of the first funerals we did, someone saw the flag and said 'he's not a veteran' to which I replied, no, but he was a volunteer," said Winters, "A flag is just a small token of our appreciation."

Winters said the flags cost about $60 each.
