Tim started his industry career in pharmaceutical sales with Pfizer, and subsequently transitioned to marketing before joining Lederle Pharmaceuticals where he managed the anti-infective business prior to assuming leadership of the hospital/oncology business for Lederle, Canada. Moving back to headquarters as Business Unit Director, Cardiovasculars he launched a new product for hypertension and led a co-promotion initiative with Wyeth/Ayerst and Robins.
During this period he
accepted a special appointment to speed development of a new oncology product.
As Project Director, Lederle Oncology
built a multidivisional, high-performance team, which reduced the time required to bring the product to market by nine months.
Following this Tim assumed responsibility as Vice President, General Manager of Medi Cine Inc., a healthcare communications company in New York City where he increased revenues 34 percent in his two-year tenure.
Returning to the client side of the business, Tim
developed strategy, positioning, and core launch programs for a new arthritis product and later developed key components of the launch strategy for a major cholesterol compound with current sales of over $10 billion.
Tim holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of San Francisco, an MPA in Human Resource Management from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and Executive Education certificates from the University of Virginia, Columbia and Duke.
He has served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Marketing at Fairleigh Dickenson University in Teaneck.

Speaking to an overflow audience at the Garden State SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management) Annual Conference, Executive Search and HR Consultant, Tim Ruef urged participants to examine and improve their onboarding procedures for new employees if they want to improve engagement and retention, and in turn company profitability.
Noting that onboarding mistakes occur in over 50% of new hires, Ruef
cited costs to the organization approaching 15 times the individual's base salary when both direct and indirect cost are considered.
Drawing a sharp distinction between the traditional orientation program and onboarding, he
focused on speeding the smooth transition of new hires to maximize both individual and organizational success.
Working in small discussion groups the audience agreed that helping new employees adjust to the new culture and crafting individual work plans to ensure short term wins are crucial to this effort.
