Labor 2006 Volunteer of the Week #1: Tim Carrier, BBQ Extraordinaire
Each week between now and the election, we will choose one volunteer from among many great Labor 2006 campaign volunteers to highlight in the Weekly Update. It's not easy to choose from among the hundreds of volunteers busting their butts to elect a pro-working families slate of candidates and push back on bad ballot measures.
This week, the mantra that "the way to the heart is through the stomach" is true here at the Weekly Update. The first Labor 2006 Volunteer of the Week is Tim Carrier, BBQ Extraordinaire and Business Representative for the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council No.5.
"Tim Carrier has logged thousands of hours flipping burgers for hungry volunteers as well as knocking on doors, phoning members, distributing flyers at jobsites, and much more in past campaigns," said Oregon AFL-CIO President Tom Chamberlain.
"This year, Tim has once again answered the call to elect pro-worker candidates and defeat the anti-worker agenda of Bill Sizemore and his ilk.Not only has Tim participated in every single Labor 2006 event to date, he's also recruited a crack team of energetic volunteers from among his fellow Painters.
