Officer Tim Burell began his law enforcement career in 1987 with the City of Doraville Police Department where he served until 1992 when he joined the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Police Department.
He served with the MARTA Police during the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta.
Officer Burell joined the Sandy Springs Police Department in 2008.
He worked in the patrol division until his appointment as one of the two south community coordinators.
In his 24-year career, Tim has held the positions of detective, and sergeant.
He is certified in Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED).
CPTED is based on the premise that "The proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the fear of crime and incidence of crime, and to an improvement in quality of life."
