Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's Natural Resources Officer Thor Aaso said, "Monitoring was conducted by Council over the 2009-2010 summer season to provide the local community and visitors with to the area with information on where and when to swim.
"The results for this summer confirm that Port Macquarie-Hastings Council ocean beaches are amongst the cleanest in the State," said Mr Aaso. By placing litter in the bin or taking it home with you and picking up pet droppings, we can all help ensure pollution stays out of the stormwater and our waterways remain clean," said Mr Aaso.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council natural resources officer Thor Asso said the council had been working on minimising the discharge of acid into the river since 2001.
"We have reduced 85 per cent of the acid sulfate soil discharge and in terms of remediation that is one of the best outcomes on the NSW coast," he said.
