Klose said the first officer to arrive at Fischer's apartment Monday was told by other people at the complex that the elderly man had fallen in the parking lot earlier in the day.
Doctors told police Monday evening that Fischer's injuries were not consistent with a fall, and that's when officers began investigating the incident as a crime, he
said investigators have interviewed residents but do not have any leads in the assault.
