Tom Kane, Major General U.S. Air Force (retired), is responsible for working closely with all AAWW departments and defense and government agencies to develop a cohesive relationship between AAWW and our defense and government partners.
A career Air Force officer, Mr. Kane served in a number of command and staff assignments. He commanded five times, including two Air Force Wings. He also held important overseas leadership positions in Europe (NATO) and in Asia (United Nations, Japan and Korea).
Most recently, Mr. Kane served as director of strategic plans, requirements and programs for the Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill., where he was responsible for force structure planning and programming, doctrine and requirements for the nation's airlift and air refueling forces.
Mr. Kane was a command pilot with more than 4,400 flight hours in C-5, C-9, C-21, C-23A, C-130E, C-141, KC-10, MC-130E and T-37B aircraft.
He received his bachelor's degree in international relations from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a master's degree in international relations from the University of Southern California, and a master's degree in national security management from the Naval War College. Top

HIRES THOMAS P. KANE AS VICE PRESIDENT OF DEFENSE AND GOVERNMENT PROGRAMS
Monday, October 01, 2007 -- Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, Inc. (AAWW) (Nasdaq: AAWW), a leading provider of global air cargo services, today announced that Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas P. Kane has joined the Company as Vice President of Defense and Government Programs.
In this new position, Mr. Kane will be responsible for developing innovative services and solutions to meet the needs of U.S. government agencies, as well as supporting AAWW's relationships with international government agencies and organizations. His appointment is effective October 1.
William J. Flynn, President and Chief Executive Officer of AAWW, said, "We continue to strengthen our support for the government sector, and we are thrilled to have Tom join us as we build our business and our relationships.

Tom is a proven leader and strategic thinker and will work to enhance our business ties with the U.S. government, as well as promoting strategies with international government agencies to mutual advantage."
Mr. Kane comes to AAWW from Headquarters, Air Mobility Command (AMC) at Scott AFB. Since 2005, he has served as Director, Strategic Plans, Requirements and Programs, directing a staff of 275 military and civilians in developing and marketing the Air Mobility Command Strategic Roadmap.
Previously, Mr. Kane was based in Seoul as Deputy Chief of Staff of the UN Command and U.S. Forces Korea, and a senior member to the UN Military Armistice Commission. In this role, he worked with 15 member nations and their ambassadors, apprising them of all issues regarding the military armistice agreement on the Korean peninsula.
As Deputy Director of the NATO Reaction Force Air Staff in Germany from 2001 to 2003, Mr. Kane directed a 17-nation NATO HQ responsible for material, logistical, and financial support to deployed nations involved in peace-keeping and humanitarian relief efforts, and which provided support to NATO missions in the Balkans and Afghanistan.
Added Mr. Flynn, "Tom has a stellar background, with over 30 years of leadership experience managing organizations, people and programs for international organizations and the Department of Defense. Tom makes an outstanding addition to our senior team as we further develop our well-established defense and government business capabilities."
A command pilot, Mr. Kane has logged nearly 4,500 flight hours. He earned his B.S. in international relations from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a M.S. in national security management from the Naval War College in Newport, R.I., and a M.A. in international relations, University of Southern California. Mr. Kane also completed the Program for Senior Executives in National and International Security Management, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
