After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Deas resumed his gastroenterology practice in Fort Worth, TX. He served six years as president of North Texas Specialty Physicians an independent practice association (IPA) which currently serves 70,000 Medicare Advantage patients. Following service as board member and treasurer of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, he served as president from 2012 to 2013. He received his MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center.

Dr. Tom Deas is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He began his gastroenterology medical practice in Fort Worth after serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel. He served as Medical Director of the Fort Worth Endoscopy Center and the SW Fort Worth Endoscopy Center. He was also President of Texas GI, an Independent Practice Association (IPA) that managed gastroenterology carve-out capitated contracts. He was President of North Texas Specialty Physicians (NTSP) and has served on NTSP's physician board. NTSP is an IPA that has formed both Plus, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services designated Pioneer ACO in partnership with Texas Health Resources hospital system, and Care N Care (CNC), a Medicare Advantage PPO that is wholly owned by NTSP. NTSP also developed Sandlot Connect, which is north Texas' first health information exchange, and has successfully cared for 30,000 Medicare Advantage patients.
As Chief Medical Officer for Sandlot Solutions and President of CNC, Tom has been an outspoken advocate for improving patient care through health information technology. He is a frequent speaker at national meetings and has published articles on improving care quality, health information technology, and achieving efficient, high-quality gastroenterology practices.
Tom retired his GI practice in December 2014, and now serves as the Director of Physician Development for NTSP.

He was President of North Texas Specialty Physicians (NTSP) from 2002 to 2008. NTSP is an independent practice association that has provided quality, cost-effective care through innovative information technology, reimbursement and care management. From 1995 to 2012, Dr. Deas served as Medical Director of the Fort Worth Endoscopy Center. He began his medical practice in Fort Worth, Texas with Gastroenterology Associates of North Texas in 1991 after serving 20 years in the United States Air Force (USAF) as a general internist and gastroenterologist, retiring as Colonel.
Dr. Deas is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Gastroenterology Board. He is the recent past President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2012 to 2013), and participated in the development of the Gastrointestinal Quality Improvement Coalition, the first gastroenterology quality registry. He is also a member of the Physician Leadership Board for Surgical Care Affiliates, and will serve in the coming year on the board of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.
While serving in the USAF, Dr. Deas received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport graduating with honors (1978). His postgraduate medical training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio included an internal medicine residency and a gastroenterology fellowship. In 2001, he earned a master's degree in medical management from the University of Texas Dallas Business School and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

Tom Deas is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine (1981) and Gastroenterology (1989). In 2001 he earned a Masters in Medical Management (MMM) from the University of Texas Dallas Business School and UT Southwestern Medical School. He served as Medical Director of the Fort Worth Endoscopy Center and the SW Fort Worth Endoscopy Center from 1995-2012. These endoscopic ASCs were developed to provide a quality, safe, and convenient endoscopic environment for patients. He is also a member of the Physician Advisory Board for Surgical Care Affiliates, corporate partner for the ambulatory endoscopy centers.
He is a Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). He has served in leadership positions with ASGE as committee chair, board member, treasurer, and as President, May 2012-13. From 2008-2012, he served on the Advisory Board for the GI Quality Improvement Coalition (GIQuIC), the first gastroenterology quality registry established in 2008. From 1996-2001, he served as President of Texas GI, an Independent Practice Association (IPA) that managed gastroenterology carve-out capitated contracts. He was President of North Texas Specialty Physicians (NTSP) from 2002-2008 and has served on NTSP's physician board 1998-2013.
