Thomas Deas Jr., MD, is the medical director of Fort Worth (Texas) Endoscopy Center, a Surgical Care Affiliates facility. He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport and completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio. Dr. Deas, who is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, is currently Chief Medical Officer for Sandlot Solutions, developer of health information exchange technologies, and President of Care N Care, a Medicare Advantage PPO in North Texas.
He was President of North Texas Specialty Physicians (NTSP) from 2002 to 2008. NTSP is an independent practice association that has provided quality, cost-effective care through innovative information technology, reimbursement, and care management. From 1995 to 2012, Dr. Deas served as Medical Director of the Fort Worth Endoscopy Center. He began his medical practice in Fort Worth, Texas with Gastroenterology Associates of North Texas in 1991 after serving 20 years in the United States Air Force (USAF) as a general internist and gastroenterologist, retiring as Colonel.
Dr. Deas is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine Gastroenterology Board. He is the recent past President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (2012 to 2013), and participated in the development of the Gastrointestinal Quality Improvement Coalition, the first gastroenterology quality registry. He is also a member of the Physician Leadership Board for Surgical Care Affiliates, and will serve in the coming year on the board of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.
While serving in the USAF, Dr. Deas received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport graduating with honors (1978). His postgraduate medical training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio included an internal medicine residency and a gastroenterology fellowship. In 2001, he earned a master’s degree in medical management from the University of Texas Dallas Business School and University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

Sandlot announced today the appointment of Thomas M. Deas, Jr., MD as Chief Medical Officer of the company. A gastroenterologist who will maintain his practice in addition to his new responsibilities, Dr. Deas was a key member of the North Texas Specialty Physicians (NTSP) team that launched Sandlot and its HIE solution, SandlotConnect ®.
