With the spring 2017 Physician Forum "Unveiling the Magic of Healthcare" coming up soon, we asked Dr. Thomas Deas, Jr., Vice President Physician Development, to share his thoughts on the importance of the educational forums NTSP provides to member physicians. On Thursday, September 22 at 7 p.m., Dr. Tom Deas, Jr., Vice President, Physician Development at NTSP, will be hosting a free screening and discussion of the PBS program "Being Mortal" at McKinney Church at 4805 Arborlawn Drive in Fort Worth.

After retiring from the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Deas resumed his gastroenterology practice in Fort Worth, TX. He served six years as president of North Texas Specialty Physicians an independent practice association (IPA) which currently serves 70,000 Medicare Advantage patients. Following service as board member and treasurer of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, he served as president from 2012 to 2013. He received his MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed internal medicine and gastroenterology fellowship training at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tom Deas is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He began his gastroenterology medical practice in Fort Worth after serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Colonel. He served as Medical Director of the Fort Worth Endoscopy Center and the SW Fort Worth Endoscopy Center. He was also President of Texas GI, an Independent Practice Association (IPA) that managed gastroenterology carve-out capitated contracts. He was President of North Texas Specialty Physicians (NTSP) and has served on NTSP's physician board. NTSP is an IPA that has formed both Plus, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services designated Pioneer ACO in partnership with Texas Health Resources hospital system, and Care N Care (CNC), a Medicare Advantage PPO that is wholly owned by NTSP. NTSP also developed Sandlot Connect, which is north Texas' first health information exchange, and has successfully cared for 30,000 Medicare Advantage patients. As Chief Medical Officer for Sandlot Solutions and President of CNC, Tom has been an outspoken advocate for improving patient care through health information technology. He is a frequent speaker at national meetings and has published articles on improving care quality, health information technology, and achieving efficient, high-quality gastroenterology practices. Tom retired his GI practice in December 2014, and now serves as the Director of Physician Development for NTSP.
