Heart Disease and Menopause - Topic at Norwalk Hospital
Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death in American women.
As women grow older, their risk of heart disease increases.
In an effort to raise awareness about the special heart concerns in women, Dr. Thomas V. Ayoub
will present a program, "The Beat Goes On: Understanding Heart Disease and Menopause" on Wednesday, November 12, at 7 p.m.Â at Norwalk Hospital
This program is part of The Red Hot MamasÂ® series, which meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Richard S. Perkin Auditorium of Norwalk Hospital
The menopause management education program is aimed at providing medical information and peer support to women, men and family members dealing with the physical and psychological impact of menopause, which usually affects women age 40 and beyond.
Dr. Ayoub, an obstetrician and gynecologist with Womenâ€™s Healthcare of New England, has a "Certificate of Added Qualification" as a Menopause Clinician.
He joined the Norwalk Hospital Medical Staff in 1984.
He served as a member of the Norwalk Hospital Board of Trustees and actively participates as a member of several committees of the Norwalk Hospital Medical Staff.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude, and an M.D. degree from New York University.
He completed his internship and residency at New York University/Bellevue Hospital, where he also served as Chief Resident, Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Ayoub is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the Fairfield County Medical Association, the Fairfield County Ob/Gyn Association and the Connecticut Medical Society.
