Ted Newcomer Jr., of Providence, vice president of operations and partner at Chow Fun Food Group, which operates six restaurants in Providence, said the company plans to expand into Lincoln at 200 Front St.
What was formerly Overtime Bar & Grille is slated to become a third location for Harry's Bar & Burger, which is known for its sliders, extensive list of craft beers and alcoholic and non-alcoholic milkshakes. There are currently two Harry's Bar & Burger restaurants in Providence. Pending license approvals from the Town Council, Newcomer said, he hopes the restaurant will be up and running in May. It will be the first restaurant operated by Chow Fun outside of Providence. The company also runs XO Café, 10 Prime Steak & Sushi, Luxe Burger Bar and Rick's Roadhouse, Newcomer said. Asked why the brand decided to branch out into town, he said, "We love the area, we've always wanted to get into northern Rhode Island, and Lincoln is a great community." In mid-March, councilors are expected to vote on granting Harry's Bar & Burger licenses to operate in town. A public hearing at the meeting will precede the vote. It was about a month ago, Newcomer said, that the company first stumbled on the space in the shopping center vacated by Overtime. Shortly after, he explained, things began to fall into place to bring Harry's to town. At the Lincoln location, Newcomer said, the restaurant will host "happy hour" from 3 to 5 p.m., when all burgers will be half price. Two sliders on potato rolls, he said, are normally served for $4, what he called a "great value" for customers. The sliders are made fresh from beef that is never frozen, Newcomer said, which could be what's behind all the awards Harry's Bar & Burger, started in 2010, has received. Newcomer, a Johnson & Wales University graduate who is originally from New Jersey, works alongside John Elkhay, his partner in the business, and Harrison Elkhay, beverage manager, who will organize beer tastings and "pint nights" at the new restaurant. Harrison Elkhay will bring in seasonal craft beers, as well as local and specialty beers, Newcomer said, and line up draft beers on a weekly basis. Hours of operation haven't yet been determined, Newcomer said, but the restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner every day of the week, and plans to serve food late.
