Ms. Thelma Ekiyor serves as the Co-Founder and CEO of Afrigrants.

She has an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Imperial College, London UK. She is a Fellow of Stanford University, USA and hold a Law Degree LLB from the University of Buckingham. Ms. Ekiyor was the pioneering CEO of TY Danjuma Foundation, and the pioneering CEO of the West African Civil Society Institute (WACSI), where she was responsible for capacity building initiatives in 15 countries. Ms. Ekiyor stressed that girls' education is vital to providing more opportunities for girls and women and will assist in addressing the challenge of maternal and infant mortality. She implored parents to ensure that children, particularly girls attend school regularly and avoid child withdrawal and truancy.

Speaking at the dinner, the Executive Director/CEO of the TY Danjuma Foundation, Ms. Thelma Ekiyor praised the Secretary General for this initiative and stressed the Foundation's commitment to supporting Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Nigeria for the effective implementation the global strategy. She urged private foundations in Nigeria and the private sector to generate local resources to address infant and maternal mortality, support the education of the girl child and provide economic opportunities for women.
In his remark, the Secretary General appreciated the TY Danjuma Foundation for supporting the implementation of the Global Strategy for Women's and Children's Health in Nigeria and invited other stakeholders, especially the private sectors, to join the UN in eliminating existing challenges to women's and children's health. He explained that the prevailing environment presents an opportunity for the private sector to invest in improving women and children's health across the country.
