Theib Y. Oweis is an irrigation and water resources management engineer, currently leading water management research at the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA), located in Aleppo, Syria.He has over 30 years of experience in irrigation and water related research and development projects in the dry areas, particularly in Central Asia, West Asia and North Africa.His experience is focused on managing water under conditions of scarcity including areas such as water use efficiency, water harvesting in the drier environments, supplemental irrigation in rainfed areas and promoting integrated watershed management.He manages many research projects with national institutes of the developing countries of CWANA and develops specialized capacity building programs for improved water management in the dry areas.
