Thursday night parents, school officials and the Olean Police Department came together to figure out how they can work together, to combat online bullying and keep their children safe.
"As a school district, as the Olean City Police Department, we cannot, we absolutely cannot be the parents for the children, we need to be partners with the parents," said Schnell.
It might not be easy, Schnell says parents need to keep tabs on their children's conversations on social media sites.
So if they come across comments indicating there might be a conflict, they can notify police.
Schnell said, "If we have some information prior to an event perhaps we can resolve it before it happens."
