Terry Lowry is a veteran San Francisco Bay Area television and radio news anchor, reporter and talk-show host.
Terry's broadcast career began in December 1970 at KRON-TV (Chronicle Broadcasting - NBC/San Francisco), translating the evening news into Spanish for simulcast on KRON-FM radio. She moved on to weather anchor, host-producer of an Hispanic public affairs program, news reporter and news anchor.
From 1981 to 1982 Terry appeared on KGO-TV (ABC/San Francisco) as a reporter and weekend news co-anchor. From 1982 to 1987 she co-hosted the popular daily morning talk-show, "A.M. San Francisco," on KGO-TV with her husband, Fred LaCosse .
In 1989, she joined KTVU-TV (Cox Broadcasting - Fox, Oakland-San Francisco) as news anchor of 'Two at Noon" and later joined the early morning newscast "Mornings on Two" as co-anchor until September of 1991. From 1988 until 1992, Terry hosted the weekly "Home Show" on KGO Radio, featuring interviews with guest experts on the home, garden and food. In 1993 she hosted KGO Radio's "California Cookin'" and co-hosted "The Dirt Gardener" with Buzz Bertolero. From 1995 to 2002 she hosted "Silicon Valley Careers - Silicon Valley Profiles" on KICU Television (Channel 36) in San Jose.
Since 1980, Ms. Lowry has also been Vice-President of LaCosse Productions, Inc. , which produces corporate videos, conducts communication training seminars and provides talent services. She also freelances on local and syndicated television and as an on-camera narrator for industrial videos.
Terry was born in Oakland and attended Edwin Markham Elementary School. In 1958, her family moved to San Francisco where she attended A. P. Giannini Junior High School and Abraham Lincoln High School. She graduated magna cum laude from San Francisco State College with a major in Spanish, minor in International Relations and a Secondary Teaching Credential. As a full-time teacher in the San Francisco Unified School District, she headed the Spanish Bilingual Department at James Lick Junior High School in the Noe Valley district.
The eldest of three children, Terry was raised in a bilingual home and speaks Spanish fluently. Her father was of Irish and Swedish descent. Her mother was from Durango, Mexico.

Terry has given generously of her time to many community groups such as Laguna Honda Hospital, The Salvation Army, Recreation Center for the Handicapped, St. Luke's Hospital, S.F. Girls Chorus, Easter Seal Society, Muscular Dystrophy Association, United Cerebral Palsy, Leukemia Society, S.F. Education Fund, S.F. School Volunteers, Mexican-American Civic-Patriotic Committee, Interplast, Boys and Girls Club of San Francisco, San Francisco Save School Sports, NFL Alumni Charities.
Her awards for public service include League of United Latin American Citizens, 1981 Woman of the Year; American Women in Radio & Television, 1984 Outstanding Broadcaster; Easter Seal Society of S.F., 1986 Public Service Award; Laguna Honda Hospital, 1987 Outstanding Service Award; San Francisco State University, 1988 Distinguished Alumnus; Comité Mexicano Cívico Patriótico, 1991 Community Service Award; Abraham Lincoln High School Alumni Association, 1992 Wall of Fame (Distinguished Alumnus); National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Northern California), 1996 Silver Circle Inductee; National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Northern California) 1999 Board of Governors Award.
Terry is actively involved in the Northern California Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Board of Governors and Chair of the Gold and Silver Circle Committee; Bay Area Broadcast Legends Board of Directors; Laguna Honda Hospital Volunteers Board of Directors; and The Salvation Army San Francisco Harbor Light Advisory Council. She also belongs to the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, American Women in Radio & Television, Radio & Television News Directors Association, San Francisco State University Alumni Association and Abraham Lincoln High School Alumni Association.

Terry, who is of Mexican, Irish, and Swedish descent, graduated Magna Cum Laude from San Francisco State College (now University) in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts major in Spanish and minor in International Relations. In 1970 she received a Secondary Teaching Credential at State and went on to head the Spanish Bilingual Department at James Lick Junior High School in San Francisco. Later that year she was hired to simulcast KRON-TV's (San Francisco) newscasts in Spanish on KRON-FM radio.
Terry's broadcasting career developed rapidly. She became the weather anchor, host-producer of a Hispanic public affairs program, news reporter and anchor. In 1982, she and her husband, Fred LaCosse, began a successful five year run as co-hosts of the popular daily talk-show, AM San Francisco. In February 1989, she joined KTVU-TV (Oakland-San Francisco) as news anchor of "Two at Noon" and later as news co-anchor of "Mornings on Two. Since 1988, she has been the host of a number of weekend radio talk shows on KGO-Radio in San Francisco. In addition, since 1981 she has been Vice President of LaCosse Productions, Inc., a commercial and industrial video tape production and communications company she founded with her husband. A tireless contributor of her time to community groups, Terry has donated her skills to a number of charities, including the Easter Seal Society of San Francisco, The Salvation Army, San Francisco education Fund, San Francisco School Volunteers and the Abraham Lincoln High School Alumni Association, of which she was a founding director. Terry's many achievements have led to numerous honors, including the League of United Latin Citizens Women of the Year for 1981; the American Women in Radio and Television's Outstanding Broadcaster for 1984, and the Easter Seal Society's 1986 recipient of its Public Service Award. In 1989, she was designated a Distinguished Alumnus of San Francisco State University.
In recognition of her many accomplishments, Terry Lowry was selected as one of the eight initial inductees into the Abraham Lincoln High School Wall of Fame.
