Terry C. Bohannan, President
...The founder and president of Live Oak, Terry Bohannan brings a singular perspective to the golf course construction industry.He was formally educated at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia, the cradle of turf grass research in the United States.After college, he entered the PGA of America program and served as head assistant professional at Shipyard Golf Club on Hilton Head Island.
Because of a growing interest in golf course design and construction, Bohannan
left the club professional aspect of the golf business in 1986 to accept on-the-job assignments with Machen Construction, and then Holmes & Co.
While with those companies he
held a variety of supervisory positions working on a number of prestigious courses including Melrose (South Carolina), Grand Cypress
and Avila Country Clubs
(Florida), and Pinehurst National (North Carolina).As a result of experiences gained with the Machen and Holmes companies, he was offered a position as a Design Coordinator with Nicklaus Design in 1988.
For the next ten years Bohannan steadily gained stature at Golden Bear Golf, rising to Design Associate for Nicklaus Design
and Director of Field Operations for Paragon Construction International
in the Pacific Rim.In that capacity he managed the construction of 13 golf courses through some of the most breathtaking and challenging terrain in the world.He returned to the United States in 1998 to establish Live Oak Golf Construction.
