...Terrance PorterAssistant CoachA former Titan guard, Terrance Porter is in his second season as an assistant on Perry Watson's UDM coaching staff.He returned to UDM during the summer of 2003, replacing Mickey Barrett when Barrett became Detroit's women's basketball coach and, at the same time, completing the trio of former Watson players now on their ex-coach's staff."I was happy to give Terrance the opportunity to join our staff at Detroit," coach Watson said.

has been able to help our players not only succeed on the basketball court, but also in the class room."Porter has joined veteran aide Kevin Mondro in tutoring Detroit's perimeter players.In addition to his on-court coaching, Porter also has responsibilities in scouting future opponents, film breakdown and recruiting, while also coordinating the team's academic responsibilities.Porter
enjoyed three active seasons with the Titans he
redshirted one year due to a back injury and played a total of 75 career games.He was a member of the 1994 Titans who captured the school's first-ever basketball conference championship.Porter
contributed 274 points in a Detroit uniform, and was well-known as a long-range shooting threat.His
one-game scoring high, 15 points vs.Michigan, came on a night where he
shot 5-for-7 from three-point territory.In 1997, Porter
received the basketball team's William Ebben Award for combining athletic and academic excellence.Porter closed out his collegiate playing career in 1998 at nearby Wayne State, where he competed as a graduate student and earned his Master's in Sports Administration a year later.Porter returned to UDM after working in the private business world, and it was his first assignment as a college coach.Coaching

"All along, it was in the back of my mind to be a coach," said Porter
, who spent one season as a high school assistant at Brother Rice
in suburban Birmingham.
...Prior to graduating from UDM in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Porter represented the University on the Midwestern Collegiate Conference's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.He received his master's in Sports Administration from Wayne State in 1999.The 29-year-old Porter and his wife Jillvonnie and their infant son Terrance Jr., live in Redford.
