The bids for four contracts for the project were opened Friday morning by Tamaqua Superintendent Frederick T. Bausch and Terry Naugle, project manager for AEM Architects, Reading.
One is for casework fixtures by Campbell Rhea, which is an alternative to the dealer in the base contract, explained Naugle
Terry Naugle of AEM showed designs of the proposed refurbishments at last week's Auxiliary Committee meeting.
The upgrading of the four high school labs, complete with improvements to the heating and ventilation system, is expected to cost as much as $1 million.Naugle
mentioned an estimate of $948,540 to the Auxiliary Committee last week.
However, Terry Naugle of AEM Architects, Reading, the project engineer, recommended a change order with the system that would allow the HVAC units to be controlled through the Tamaqua Area Middle School.
