That's where he had to learn a new system, a West Coast-style offense that stressed passing, and found himself slipping down the depth chart as training camp progressed.The Eagles cut him on Sept. 2, five days before the NFL season began.
"I kind of felt it coming a little bit," Gaffney said.
He did conditioning work on his own but didn't get any calls from NFL teams until the Patriots invited him to work out.
"I was real excited, real excited," Gaffney said.

Troy Brown is the only holdover in a group that includes Doug Gabriel, Reche Caldwell, Chad Jackson and now Gaffney.
