Terik Hashmi - J.D., LL.M.
was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, the son of European immigrants.Mr. Hashmi
immigrated to the United States with his
family in the 1970's, where he
attended high school and university in the State of Ohio.Mr. Hashmi attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he obtained his Bachelor's (B.A.) Degree in Diplomacy & Foreign Affairs as well as a Bachelor's (B.A.) Degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, Mr. Hashmi attended the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (Cleveland, Ohio) where he earned his Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.).Mr. Hashmi also earned a Post-Doctorate Law Degree, LL.M. (Master of Laws) from UOP McGeorge School of Law (Sacramento, California) in Transnational Business Practice.
Mr. Hashmi's specialization within the program was the intersection of international business and U.S. immigration law. Mr. Hashmi
has practiced as Senior American Immigration Counsel for a major international Business Law Firm in Brussels, Belgium, has practiced before the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, and has lectured at various European and American Universities
on U.S. Immigration law and the many issues affecting international businesses, professionals and American companies. Mr. Hashmi
has acted as Chief Litigator for several Washington, DC law firms in the representation of clients before the U.S. Immigration Courts and Board of Immigration Appeals.Mr. Hashmi
has personally conducted over 200 trials in the capacity of deportation defense for those in Federal Removal Proceedings. Terik Hashmi
also obtained significant industry experience in the American business community.Mr. Hashmi was former Vice President of an Information Technology Consulting company based in Washington, DC and was in charge of developing and implementing the international corporate immigration strategy of IT Client Firms under U.S. Immigration Law.Mr. Hashmi served as Director of Attorney Personnel and was in charge of immigration legal services.Mr. Hashmi
conducts frequent seminars for the IT, healthcare, construction and other labor shortage industries in establishing and complying with proper U.S. immigration laws and employment based regulations.He
has also been published in Bonn, Germany on issues specifically facing the German business community in dealing with the U.S.IT industry and related immigration issues.He
is also the author of several publications and two books on U.S. Immigration Law, published throughout Western Europe and all German-speaking countries.Mr. Hashmi
is French Canadian born, speaks French, and has long-term experience in representing Canadian, French, Belgian, Swiss, Hatian and other francophone nationals. Mr. Hashmi
has represented individuals and businesses from all backgrounds and sizes, from basic family-based cases to those of famous professional athletes, diplomats and celebrities, such as Richard Branson and Don King.
is extremely well-versed in international business and their respective cultures, stemming from his
own international background coupled with extensive study, work and travel throughout East and West Europe, Asia and North Africa.He has personally represented clients from over 140 countries and has extensive law practice experience at U.S. Consulates overseas.
In addition, Mr. Hashmi
was a former Professional Basketball Player during the 1988-1989 Season (European League) where he
had the opportunity to compete and travel throughout all of Europe.
